This staircase has a slanted knee wall to which the iron spindles are installed. Notice the Angled Shoes at the base of each. The pattern is made up of Single Twists, Single Baskets, and Double Baskets.

The old wooden spindles were removed first, then the exposed oak edges (called "returns") were refinished before the new carpet and new iron balusters were installed.

This upper hallway picture shows the balance and symmetry that we look to achieve with each custom pattern. Notice the two baskets in between each of the scrolls.

To achieve balance, we have one Single Basket in the very center of the two Scrolls. Then there are two Single Baskets on outside of each scroll pairing.

This pattern combined Single and Double Spoon & Knuckles from the Hammered Gothic Series with what we call "Kissing Scrolls" (achieved by mounting two Scrolls face to face). This gives a "medallion" centerpiece look.

We refinished these step edges and handrails at the same time as the floor to give a uniform appearance. Then we combined a simple spindle pattern with a colorful runner from Kane.

This photo shows new hardwood floors next to old hardwood floors, but after refinishing all together, everything looks brand new. The stairs were refinished and we removed white wooden spindles to install new Hammered Gothic iron balusters.

We created a "diamond" pattern by framing a Double Basket in between two Single Baskets. The Double Twists separate each group of "diamonds".

We removed a knee wall on this staircase to open it up and give the owner larger stairs. We replaced the posts with larger square box newels and then refinished everything to match the new prefinished floors.

We stepped down this staircase with Scrolls and alternating Single and Double Baskets. We then wrapped the volute at the base with all Baskets.

We refinished these step edges and handrails to match the new prefinished flooring. We installed a simple pattern of iron spindles using plain bars with single and double knuckles. Lastly, we installed a new "wicker" runner to give the owner the "earthy" feel they were seeking. Very simple yet classy.
