LVP Flooring for Atlanta Homes That Actually Get Lived In
The problem we solve at Concept Flooring Inc.
LVP is the answer homeowners reach for when real life has caught up with the floor they have now. A kitchen where spills happen daily. A basement that takes on moisture when Atlanta storms roll through. A mudroom that sees muddy paws, wet boots, and dropped groceries. A rental property where the floor needs to outlast the next three tenants. Hardwood cannot do that job. Tile is cold and expensive. Carpet traps everything you wish it would not.
Luxury vinyl plank flooring is built for rooms that take a beating. Waterproof core. Hundreds of styles, colors, and textures. Easy to maintain year after year. Your Project Manager's job is to help you figure out which LVP option is right for the specific rooms you are covering, and just as importantly, to tell you when LVP is not the right answer and something else should go down instead.
How Our Shop-at-Home LVP Samples Work
See the plank in your home before you commit
LVP photographs beautifully. That is part of the problem. The wood-look plank that looked warm and authentic in the online swatch can read plastic and cold in your actual kitchen. The gray-toned stone look that seemed modern on a showroom floor can clash with your cabinet color. The 7-inch plank that looked wide in a catalog may overpower a small room. That is why we bring the samples to you.
Before the visit, your Project Manager handpicks LVP samples from the brands we carry: pulling the constructions, colors, widths, and finishes that fit your rooms, your subfloor, and what you told us you are trying to accomplish. No catalog. No guesswork at the door.
Then we bring them to you. You put a plank down on the slab in your basement. You hold a wood-look sample against your kitchen cabinets. You see how a stone-look LVP reads next to your actual tile in the bathroom. You walk the space with your PM and talk through transitions, thresholds, and where the LVP meets hardwood, carpet, or the existing tile you are keeping.
No showroom visit required. No pressure to decide. When you are ready, your PM writes up a detailed estimate and sends it to your inbox within 24 hours.

Why Atlanta Homeowners Choose Concept Flooring
That is where experience matters. Our PMs know which LVP products hold up to real Atlanta humidity, which ones click together tightly enough to handle settling foundations, and which are priced for the long haul rather than styled for the showroom. The traditional LVP quote often skips the questions that decide whether your floor lasts five years or twenty: subfloor flatness, moisture mitigation on slabs, transition heights, and whether the product you are looking at is the right construction for the room you are putting it in.
That is why Concept Flooring was built differently. No showroom. No sales floor. No handoffs between a salesperson, a measurer, and a crew that has never spoken to each other. Your Project Manager is your point of contact from the first phone call through the last transition strip.

What's the difference between SPC and WPC flooring?
SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) and WPC (Wood Plastic Composite) are the two main rigid-core luxury vinyl flooring constructions. SPC has a dense, stone-based core that is more rigid and typically performs better under heavy furniture, temperature fluctuations, and demanding traffic conditions. It's often a great choice for basements, kitchens, and slab-foundation homes common throughout the Atlanta area. WPC has a thicker, more cushioned core that feels softer underfoot and can help reduce footstep noise, making it a popular choice for living areas, bedrooms, and second-floor installations. Both feature waterproof cores. The best choice depends on the room, subfloor conditions, and your priorities for comfort, durability, and sound control.
Is LVP actually waterproof, or just water-resistant?
True luxury vinyl plank is waterproof at the core, meaning the plank itself will not swell, warp, or be damaged by water sitting on it. However, "waterproof flooring" and "a waterproof floor" are different things. Water that penetrates through seams, around edges, or under the flooring can still reach the subfloor below, potentially causing damage there. For full waterproof performance in high-risk areas (basements, bathrooms, laundry rooms), proper installation matters as much as the product itself: tight seams, sealed transitions, and a moisture barrier for slab installations. Installed correctly, LVP genuinely handles spills, pet accidents, and even minor flooding without damage. Consult the manufacturer's website for specifications on the products you are considering.
How much does LVP installation cost in the Atlanta area?
LVP installation costs in Atlanta vary by the construction type (SPC vs. WPC), wear layer thickness, square footage, subfloor condition, and the scope of any necessary prep work. Entry-level LVP with a 12-mil wear layer is the most affordable; premium LVP with a 28+ mil wear layer is more expensive but performs better in pet households and high-traffic areas. LVP is generally one of the more cost-effective flooring options once installed, typically less than hardwood, comparable to mid-grade carpet, and significantly less than tile when factoring in installation labor. We provide written quotes after an in-home measurement and subfloor assessment, never over the phone.
Can LVP be installed over my existing tile or hardwood?
Sometimes, it depends on the existing floor's condition and the LVP installation method. Floating LVP (the most common installation type) can often be installed over existing tile or hardwood if the surface is flat, level, and structurally sound. Existing tile with significant texture, broken pieces, or uneven grout lines may need to be removed or leveled first. Existing hardwood with significant cupping, peeling, or damage may not provide a stable enough base. We advise against installing LVP over engineered wood that is glued to a slab. Our Project Manager assesses your existing floor during the in-home consultation and recommends the right path. Sometimes, installation over existing flooring saves cost; sometimes removal is the right call for long-term performance.
How long does an LVP installation take from first call to finished floors?
Most Atlanta LVP installations are completed within 1-3 days once the material is on site, depending on the square footage and prep work needed. Single-room installations (kitchen-only or basement-only) are often completed in a single day. Whole-floor installations of 1,500+ sq ft typically run 2-3 days. The full timeline from your first call to finished floors usually runs 2-4 weeks, including the in-home consultation, delivery of the written estimate, material ordering, and scheduling. Your Project Manager gives you a specific timeline before you commit.
How does LVP hold up to dogs, kids, and heavy furniture?
Quality LVP holds up extremely well, often better than hardwood, in homes with kids, dogs, and active use. Three factors determine real-world durability: wear layer thickness (look for 20-mil or thicker for pet households), construction type (SPC handles heavy furniture and dog claws better than WPC), and proper installation (floating installations with tight seams prevent damage from spills reaching the subfloor). Premium LVP with a 28-mil wear layer can outlast carpet in family homes by 10-15 years. Cleanup of accidents is a wipe-down rather than the disaster it would be on carpet.
Does LVP off-gas or have VOCs?
Modern luxury vinyl plank from reputable manufacturers meets FloorScore or similar low-VOC indoor air quality certifications. The brands we install (COREtec, Shaw Floorte, Mohawk, Armstrong, Karndean, and others) all carry these certifications, meaning the off-gassing during and after installation is well below thresholds considered safe for residential indoor air quality. Lower-grade LVP from unverified manufacturers can off-gas more significantly, which is one of the reasons we only install from authorized dealer brands with documented certifications. If indoor air quality is a priority, we can show you the specific FloorScore certification for any product we recommend.
What if I am not happy with the result?
Concept Flooring installation comes with a lifetime installation warranty on products we provide and install (see terms and conditions). If something is not right after installation, your Project Manager is there for you. If there is an issue with the product, we will leverage our manufacturer connections and assist with any claims that need to be filed. We've been doing this in Atlanta neighborhoods since 2001, and our reputation depends on standing behind every project.
